About The Imagination Box
The Imagination Box started with a simple goal: one catering company that could handle every kind of event properly, from a boardroom breakfast to a wedding for three hundred. More than ten years later, we cater offices, conferences, celebrations, funerals, film sets and private dinners across Johannesburg and Gauteng.
Everything is cooked by our own team of chefs, trained in current techniques. We buy locally where we can, from sustainable farmers and suppliers we vet for quality and food safety, and we plan our kitchen to reduce waste, which keeps costs down for our clients.
Beyond the food, we offer a complete event service: staff, equipment, décor and styling, with mobile bars through our sister company Jozi Bars. One team, one quote, and one contact from the first message to the last plate.

Dietary requirements
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and banting options are available across our services. Send the dietary numbers with your guest count and they are built into the quote.
We prepare Halaal-friendly menus on request using Halaal-sourced ingredients where specified. We are not a certified Halaal kitchen and cannot guarantee full separation of preparation areas, so tell us at enquiry stage if certified catering is required.
Allergies and intolerances must be sent in writing before a menu is confirmed. Our kitchen handles common allergens daily, so we cannot offer an allergen-free environment, but we can prepare and serve affected items separately when we know in advance.

What types of events do you cater?
Corporate functions, daily office meals, conferences, breakfasts, weddings, baby showers and high teas, private dinners, funerals, film shoots and parties, with fourteen services in all.
Is there a minimum number of guests?
Most of our services start at ten guests. Smaller gatherings are usually best served by platters or boxed meals.
Do you supply staff, décor and a bar?
Yes. Waiters, an event manager, equipment, floral and décor, tents and seating are available, and our sister company Jozi Bars supplies mobile bars with bartenders.
How far in advance should we book?
A week is usually enough for office catering and meetings. Weddings and styled events need two to four weeks, and November and December book out early.
